Dr. Subash Chandra Deb is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Botany at Brindaban Government College, Habiganj, Bangladesh. He is a member of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Education Cadre) and has extensive experience in higher education, academic leadership, and research.
Dr. Deb completed his BSc (Honours) and Master’s degrees in Botany from Jahangirnagar University. He subsequently earned his PhD in Seed Pathology and Seed Technology under a University Grants Commission (UGC) Fellowship, supported by a collaborative research program between Jahangirnagar University and the Bangladesh Rice Research Institute. His doctoral research focused on seed health, disease management, and seed quality enhancement.
In addition to his disciplinary specialization, Dr. Deb obtained an MA in Education from the University of Nottingham Malaysia under the World Bank–funded CEDP Fellowship Programme, further strengthening his academic leadership and pedagogical expertise.
Most recently, in 2024, he completed postdoctoral research in Production Biotechnology at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology under a UGC Postdoctoral Fellowship. His research interests include Plant Pathology, Mycology, Seed Technology, and Production Biotechnology, with a particular focus on applied research addressing agricultural sustainability and crop health.
Dr. Deb has published several scientific articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. In addition to his academic research, he regularly contributes popular science writings and essays on contemporary literary and social issues to various print and online platforms.
